Tall ceilings bring in light and space, but the wrong color can make a room feel cold. A simple solution is using a slightly darker shade on the ceiling panels. This brings the ceiling “down” visually, making the room cozier while still elegant. In White Marsh, our client chose a contrasting ceiling color to balance openness with warmth — and the results speak for themselves.
The Challenge
The space had tall ceilings, lots of natural light, and detailed coffered ceilings that deserved to stand out. The walls were builder-grade white, and while clean, they didn’t add much warmth or personality. The homeowners wanted something more refined — a look that highlighted the unique architecture.
The Process
Our crew:
- Protected floors, railings, and furniture with drop cloths and plastic coverings.
- Sampled several shades on the wall so the homeowners could see how each color looked in different lighting.
- Applied a rich contrasting color to the coffered ceiling panels, giving depth and dimension to the room.
- Finished the walls with a smooth, professional coat for a fresh, modern feel.
With tall ceilings, scaffolding was necessary to reach every detail safely and precisely.
The Result
The transformation speaks for itself: the ceilings now draw the eye upward, the space feels both open and inviting, and the contrast between ceiling and walls adds a polished, designer finish.
